babysitter rate

How much would you pay a 12 year old to baby sit your 2 year old for 1.5 - 2 hours? Her mom's there, too so no worries about supervision or accidents or anything. Her mom told her she's getting paid in experience but I think I should give her something anyway. What are your thoughts?

  • My 12 year old would think 10 bucks was a pretty big score.

  • I have an 12 year old come help with my kids once a week. She is getting some experience and I pay her $1 an hour. Not much, but as I start to leave her for short times, I will pay her more. Maybe I should be paying her more?

  • My 13 year old is a Red Cross Certified babysitter. She generally gets paid $7 an hour.

  • ask her mom if its ok that you give her $ to watch your kids, otherwise you might make mom feel like you are over stepping boundaries, another suggestion, if she says its ok, maybe pay her 4$/day, BUT put it in an envelope and pay her weekly or something, so it feels like a ton of money, or even help pay to get her certifed like rkoloms daughter, this is great for her future so mom should approve!
