What comes next after starting to "free stand"?

My 8 1/2 almost 9 mo has recently started to do a little free standing where once he gains his balence he will let go of everything and stand there for a minute or two then fall down, so call me stupid but for some odd reason I just didnt think of him ever doing that I though he would just start out walking one day, now my question is --- is this like .a. little transition thing they do right before they start walking or what do I expect him to do next?

  • Well yes after they get comfortable standing on their own, they'll start trying to take steps! Isnt it exciting? The time period can be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months though. So try to just relax and not anticipate walking too much, it could be a while yet. It could be any day though, too!!

  • i have 3 kids 5yrs, 2yrs, and 1yr and my last baby did that about 4mths before she took her first step, so it could be awhile but it's deffinitly a good sign because that means your baby is relizing hey these legs can hold me up

  • Mine would stand for up to 30 minutes at that age, but, didn't walk until 14 months.
