Did you give your child a Top 10 name from the following lists?

Every year the Social Security Administration compiles the rankings based on the names of babies applying for Social Security numbers. (Most children receive their numbers at birth.)

More than 4.2 million births were registered in 2008. The rankings are based strictly on spelling, not how the name sounds. That’s why the names Kaitlin, Kaitlyn, Kaitlynn, Katelin, Katelyn, Katelynn and Katlyn are considered separate entries. (In 2007, Kaitlin ranked Number 421.)

The latest Top 10 names for baby girls, based on 2008 statistics:

  • Yep! My oldest is Emily Lois. She's ten and it was #1 for nine years (I think) after she was born... I had no idea it was such a popular name when we picked it!

    #2 is Stella Mae

    #3 is Augustus Jameson

  • Nope...I am not the "popular name" type. I wanted my daughters to have unique names (just like me) so that they didn't shar that name with 10 other people in their shcool, place of business, and friends groups. I have like 7 friends named Jennifer...4 of them are mutual friends, so when we get together and someone says hey Jen..they all turn...I didn't want that for my kids.

    # 1 - Mikkaela Milagrosas (these two names litterally translated are Miraculous one who is like God)

    # 2 - Terpsichore Preciosa (combined with my last name her name litterally translated is Precious dancing shoes)

I am silly I am sure!!! But those are my girls names!
