Did your parents ever get divorced?

Mine did when I was five. They each remarried someone new, divorced THOSE people, and now they're married to their third spouses.

I never thought it had much of an impact on the way I parent or go about being in relationships, but now that I'm older, good golly gosh their divorce pretty much shaped my entire lifestyle.

  • Yes, they did but they remained single after the divorce. In fact, they are next door neighbors. They get along great! Their grandchildren (and their daughters) love that they live next door to each other. :-)

  • My parents were divorced when I was VERY young. I have only a few memories of my father. I haven't talked to him since I was 14 & I have no desire to. I don't have absent father syndrome...haha. I dunno how having divorced parents has affected me. On one hand I don't care if I ever have to be a single mom & on the other, I want to have a happy little family & I want my son to live w/ both his parents. I dunno if my father every got remarried, but I know he had more kids. My mom's dated on & off over the years & she's finally w/ someone who she's been with the longest & she seems really happy.

  • My mom divorced my biological father when I was like 3...I never knew him. So her second marriage to my "dad" failed when I was 15. Then mom and day married other people. So they've each had 3 failed marriage. LOL. I had TOTALLY tainted my thoughts on marriage. And if it weren't for the kids, I wouldn't be married today.

  • My parents divorced when I was 2. My dad was with the same woman [but never married her] from the time I was 3 until I was 16. My mom remarried when I was 5 & they divorced when I was 13. I don't really think any of it had an affect on me.

  • Nope. My dad died in just before what would have been their 39th wedding anniversary.

My mom died two years later because she didn't wear her seat belt.

  • At least they were strong enough to divorce and try be happy so late in life!!!
My parents are still together to this day. But sometimes I wished they would have divorced. They were never happy together and i think its harder to grow up with 2 parents who lost their ability to be happy together soemwher along the road... they made sure to point out everyhting they hated about eachother all the time... arguing 24/7. They havnt slept in the same bed since i can remember. I love my parents i want them to happy both of them whether its together or not. You only live once make sure your happy & its exactly the want you want to live... might sound selfish but you cant take back time so dont waste it!!!!!!!
