Smoke pork chops vs ham steaks?

So my friend brags about ham steaks,she has some one who slotters and she gets some meat well I looked in the store and all I could find was very pricey!!So I found smoked pork chops and OMG they look awsome (ive cooked them just waiting on dh to get here) they really look like ham so im wondering whats the difference??

  • ham is cut from the back leg of the pig and pork chops are cut near the ribs. Both are "cured" with salt and then smoked.

  • A lot. they are two totally separate cuts of meat. Smoked meats in the supermarket can be really loaded with sodium too.

  • I didnt notice much of a taste difference,or even a fat difference..please explain!(besides the sodium)
