febril seizures

My son has seizures and he's only a year and a half I don't know what to do about this and I think that there is more to it then this..I feel like the Doctors are giving me a run around and they keep telling me that they don't really know what is going on and we have to go take some tests tomorrow.
My mother was tellin me about changing food and things like that..Has anyone else had a problem with seizures? and what did you do??

  • I don't have any experience with this, however if you feel that your doctor isn't doing what he/she should be to figure this out, then I'd go get a second opinion with another doctor.

  • Febrile seizures are triggered by a sudden spike the your childs body temp. here is a website and article that you can use to help you deal with your childs seizures...i hope he feels better.

  • look at that article and read all symptoms, causes, and treatments and write down any and all questions you have for doctors. take someone with you when you take him to doctor so you can talk to the doctor one on one and understand what he is saying..

    good luck and give updates.

  • As scary as febrile seizures are, they are fairly harmless. Just make sure that as soon as he starts to get a fever, get tylenol in him. He should grow out of it.

  • my son had a febrile seizure when he was about a year old. He was sick and i was just getting ready to give him his dose of motrin and i guess it wore off and in between those couple minutes his fever spiked and he had one. We went to the hospital and the doctor reassured me that it is fairly common in children and usually they only have one, and when they have more its because of their fever. If your child is not having a fever or sick when he has these seziures then maybe that is not the case. My son is now almost two and has had a few high fevers since then but has not had another one.

  • I don't need to ask you if you had your child vaccinated, I know you did, just by your childs symptoms...I thnk these sites will help you to understand what is going on with your child.
