Did you know know that the American Psychological Assoc. now says "gay" isn't genetic?

A quote from the new info:
"Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles."

  • The nature vs nurture arguments are as old and unsolved as any human behavior (not just homosexuality).

Sometimes it's all one, sometimes it's all the other, but I suppose most times it is some combination of the two.

And I don't think any answer is always 100% correct for every last person doing a behavior.

  • I never thought it was genetic but just you were born in the wrong body. This depends on how you view things: religiously, spiritually, as a scientist, whatever. Who knows. Gay people are people too.

  • It doesn't say it isn't genetic...basically it says they still don't know what causes it.

  • No, they are NOT saying it is not genetic, they are saying they don't know what causes it.

"no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors."

That means, we don't know what factors are involved.

  • Yeah, they are saying that they don't know what the cause is, they're not ruling out genetics playing a role. Nice try, though.
