If two lesbians..

each gave an egg which scientists combined into a viable zygote then implanted it and successfully had a child this way, would that knock out the idea that they shouldn't get married because two people of the same sex can't reproduce?

  • Who knows. I think people should be able to marry whomever they choose.

  • I'd be concerned about the development of the child. Is there certain material that the sperm offers that another egg cannot provide? By that same token, could you take two sperm and combine them or does it have to be either or?

Bottom line is that's a stupid argument becuase there are men and women couples who cannot reproduce.

  • Your genetic math is off.

    egg + egg = eggs
    sperm + sperm = sperm
    egg + sperm = zygote

That being said, I agree with the previous posters. All of this is irrelevent. Mythologically based fears shouldn't dictate the contents of our legal contracts.

  • Avarah, your math is off actually.
egg+egg has produced zygotes in lab mice.
Read up on the world some time.
