Does Sunscreen Really Have An Expiration Date?

is it really true that you shouldn't use sunscreen from last year? i have so much leftover from not just last yr but even yrs before. Do i really need to throw it all out and get new sunscreen for this summer? it seems like such a waste but i dont want to use it if its not going to do anything.

  • Most susncreen has a date stamped on it. The problem is the ingredients used to block UVA/UVB rays break down fairly quickly. They won't hurt you to use them, they just become less and less effective. Even stuff from last summer will be less effective than new.

  • It will be good for 1 year past the expiration date, it does lose its effectiveness.
