  • Have you ever held any jobs prior to becoming a mother? If not, you could include your mothering skills - cooking, cleaning, babysitting.

  • List your EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES, a SKILLS SUMMARY, the LAST 3 JOBS held and the responsibilities you had in those positions, your EDUCATION including SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS, MILITARY EXPERIENCE (if applicable) and your COMPUTER/OFFICE SKILLS, and be prepared (not on your resume) to provide at least 3 SOLID employment and personal/character references upon request!

    Good luck!

  • I have over 15 years of human resources and recruitins experience; I currently do career and job search coaching and I am always happy to help CafeMoms with resumes, coverletters, job search strategy and interview prep.

Here are a few tips: everyone knows that references will be available upon request, there is no reason to state this on your resume,

Be careful with employment objective: everyone wants a stable position with a solid growing company.

  • I put self-proclaimed domestic engineer.

I have solid working experience in various fields before I became a stay at home mom so it was easy to relate to previous experiences but most recruiters got a kick out of it. I got few calls but decided to remain home and finish my degree before I joined the work force again.

Good luck in your job search.

  • did you volunteer while you were a SAHM? I put volunteer experience that I had from school and the secretary position I held at a club. I listed my previous job that I had right before leaving to raise my boys. Then I had a short thing in there about raising my kids. Now that I have my full time job I took out the volunteer work and the mom part.
