  • The white part of the eye usually looks red and irritated, and the lids maybe slightly puffy. Mucus like drainage accumulates and may dry on the eyelashes, causing the eyelids to be stuck together upon awakening. The eye discharge often reappears throughout the day, and can be either watery or thick greenish-yellow. Either one or both eyes maybe involved. Cold Sx are often present, including a low-grade fever. Severe redness, swelling of the eyelids, or a high fever in the child are danger signs suggesting a more serious eye infection requiring prompt medical care..such as periorbital cellulitis.

  • Sounds like pink eye. Usually these symptoms appear first thing in the morning, as if they develop over night. The yee may or may not be itchy, but it will be red. It also will appear less open than the other eye and will be crusty/watery. Just make sure that everyone in the house washes their hands and that the eye is touched a little as possible, and make a doctors appointment. It will need antibiotics to clear up, but other than that isn't serious at all really and is very common.

  • The inside corner of the eye may look red, goopy and crusty. It will be itchy and may even hurt. Be warned, the eye may not even be red/pink or goopy. Pink eye is very contagious and if left untreated it can cause serious problems. Call the doc and get looked at, you will need drops or cream to clear it up.

  • How old is the child? If the child is pretty young, it could also be a blocked tear duct. Those appear to be pink eye too, but if the eye is not red and irritated, it could just be the tear duct. Either way, you should probably take them to the dr.
