So this doesn't make too much sence..

So If Adam and Eve were the first people God created .. How did they produce the world's population?
No offence to anyone who is or has or knows someone of disability, but if we were all from the same "mother and father" wouldn't we have deformities? Genectically, it's not impossible but hazardous if families interbreed with each other.
So I guess my question is, how did we get here, looking and genatically being different but sharing the same source of life?

  • Experts in the christian religion have pointed out that, according to a geneology in the book of Geneis, Adam and Eve were the beginning of the Israelite race...not the entire human race. But my little attempt to get them off the hook for incest (common among nearly ALL animals) was rejected. What it proves to me is that, if these two people begat the ENTIRE human race, then they are just animals. We are ALL just animals. We are NOT special beings...just another pair of animals put in the Garden of Eden. Like dogs, elephants, or any other creature. And incest occurs often in the animal kingdom with brothers and sisters mating, sons and mothers, fathers and daughters. Either we are higher beings than dogs, etc., and we don't and never have engaged in incest, or we are just animals. And Cain DID marry his sister. Yeah, christian fairytales can be really disturbing!!

  • This has been asked a bunch of times. Run a search through the questions to see if you can find it. There were several answers before.

  • I believe that all of humanity began with Adam and Eve. It is very important that all of humanity begin with Adam and Eve to Christianity because the Bible says that only the offspring of Adam and Eve can be saved. If some of us are not decended from Adam and Eve that means that therefore some of us cannot receive the gift of salvation even if we believe. The Bible says that Adam looked among creation and there was NONE like him, so God created Eve to be his partner.

Only 3 of Adam and Eve's sons are mentioned specifically in the Bible. However the Bible does say they had more sons and daughters. The average life span back then was several hundred years. Some Jewish scholars believe that Adam and Eve could have had as many as 50 children.

You must remember that sin had JUST entered the world. It took time for things like disease and genetic disorders to develop as the deteriorating effect of sin came....

  • The argument usually is that the first people were perfect, with no genetic defects to pass on & those defects only developed much later when incestuous relations were no longer necessary. I would argue though, that first people myths are meant to be understood on a deeper level & that they weren't literally the first people created, so trying to understand why it worked is not looking at the myth properly.

  • ...upon the world. You'll see in Isrealite law that after a time when the world was more populus, God outlawed incest which was a protection of impending genetic disorders (related to incest of course) that may have already started to occur or were about to occur.

  • Perhaps if important books were not left out, there wouldn't be so many questions or things that make no sense take the book of Jumilees or Little Genesis:

  • Those books are not necessarily left out ihartu. All historical documents ought to be taken into account. However, since they do not claim the authority of God, they have no place in the Protestant Canon (which is what most people refer to as "The Bible"). There are other canons that will include them and some people do follow them but people don't always realise this.

I wanted to add to the OP's question that the Bible says that the flood wiped out everything living except for Noah, his wife, his sons and his son's wives. So they're actually the ones, according to Christian belief, that are responsible for populating the world as we know it today (which also took place before laws forbiding incest were created by God).

  • Wow. So we're all essentially from Louisiana (and I can say that after living in Louisiana for 2 years, there ARE bunches of inbreds here)?
