Cord stump

How long did it take for your babys cord stump to fall off?The paper work that the hospital sent home said 1 to 2 weeks but my babys has been on longer.

  • it took my son almost 4 weeks. my daughters was 3 weeks.

  • It can take longer somestimes. My son's took 2 weeks.
    But if it's a very thick cord or if you've been getting it wet at all it will take longer.
    Don't worry about it unless it starts smelling bad or you notice redness around the cord stump.

  • My first daughter's took a full 2 weeks and my second fell off after only 5 days. There isn't any danger to coming off too early or late as long as it isn't showing signs of infection.
