What are the limitations?

what can't you purchase with foodstamps? can you purchase seasonings, icecream, yogurt, etc.? I know you can only purchase food items and there are restrictions such as hot food, but are there any others?

  • You can purchase anything except hot foods that are ready to eat. You can purchase decorated cakes from the bakery, ice cream, yogurt, spices, seasoning... anything edible that is not "ready to eat" from the hot food section.

  • Any foods that are consumable can be purchased with food stamps, which includes infant formula, fresh produce. The state you reside in will provide upon request a list or booklet with purchasable items. Alcohol, cigarettes are not on the list.
