Can my catholic SO get remarried?

He met a VERY religious catholic girl and got married and had 3 kids within 2 years because it was tradition to reproduce as many times as possible. She was very controlling (wouoldnt let him have furniture) eventually SHE filed for a divorce and was ok'd. But according to the catholic religion you can never remarry again unless annuled (sp?) We have a baby on the way (which is supposed to be a "sin" i guess to her) and want to get married someday when we are not sure if he can get married again or not. Any catholics know anything about this or others? ANY help would be great!!!

  • You can remarry, just not in the church. He also will not be able to receive communion. My FIL is actually going through the annulment process right now. So he and his wife can get married through the church.

  • if he wants to get married in a Catholic Church he does have to get an annulment. If you are not Catholic you will have to be confirmed into the church...via classes. you two will also have to take a ":marriage" class. the process could take a couple of yeats.

  • He can not be remarried in the church unless he gets an annulment. If you are not catholic then why do you care if you are married in a church or not?

Also catholics do not belive this... it is actually stupidly funny that you think they do.

They do not believe in birth control but do not try to overpopulate the world because it is tradition...lame!

  • Legally, yes he can remarry in a civil ceremony (courthouse, your church as long as it's not catholic, backyard, beach, justice of peace, etc) but as stated he just cannot remarry in the catholic church.

  • yikes lol sounds like there is notmuch Catholic going on there. LOL

to answer your question, while leaving out the colorful embellishments---he can get married but not in a Catholic Church.

I assume he is Catholic 'cause this very Catholic controlling girl wanting to reproduce a bunch of Catholics wouldn't marry a non-Catholic.
