Would you let your little boy play with dolls?

I don't mean GI Joes or action figures, I mean baby dolls or Barbie dolls- toys that are typically geared toward girls.

  • Yes, how else will he practice being a good daddy?

  • Yes I would...I have a DD and I let her play with toys geared toward boys. I don't see anything wrong with boys playing with babies. I would think that you could teach them how to hold the baby doll properly and actually give them some information about it. It could teach them how to be a good father one day. When it came to dress up clothes though and them wanting to wear the high heels and the dresses, I would draw the line there! LOL.

  • I let him. He's two. It's the adults that assign gender to certain toys, not the kids. It really just doesn't bother me. I mean it isn't like I go out and buy him barbies or anything, but he has a couple of baby dolls and he's very gentle with them. I think it's good practice for when his sister gets here, honestly.

  • Sure, why not?
My son is 7 1/2 and still has his baby doll, Boomer, that he got when he was a month old. He also plays Barbies with his sisters all the time. My brother was the same way. He had 4 Cabbage Patch kids himself and played house with me all the time.

  • maggiemom2000 took my answer! :) Men are far more active parents now than they were 20 years ago. There's nothing strange about boys playing with dolls. My older boys used to play Barbies with a friend when they were younger. Of course GI Joe was daddy.
