my son has adhd, what treatment(s) work for you?

we are going through the trial and error of meds right now with him. i waited for a year and a half before agreeing to go the med route but he is becoming so difficult. he affects our whole family and makes things very stressfull when he is not taking a med but they are all making him sick or nasty. we cant find a happy medium, anyone have some POSITIVE insight?

  • i have already tried 2 different dosages of vyvanse, both made him very sick. focalin made him an emotional wreck and now we are trying a low dose of ritalin but it has only been a few days and so far no results.

  • Before you tried meds, did you try the Feingold diet? www.feingold.org
Did you try 3 or 4 months of fish oil supplements
Did you try a therapist who works with kids (or adults) with ADD/ADHD and teaches them how to use it to their advantage?

  • Vyvanse works awesome!!! Less side affects than anything else that my son tried. It also helped to have a structured schedule, and talking to a counselor that deals with kids with ADHD.
