Ideas for solids/finger foods

My son doesn't like ANYTHING other than his formula! My son is almost 8m and won't take to any solids... he'll be interested, allow something into his mouth, then make a face and push food out with his tongue! We try to give him solids at least once a day. He seems to like squash and carrots (baby food) OK, but still only eats a few spoonfuls at a time. He wants to hold my banana every morning, then spits it out as well. Doesn't like PUFFS (who doesn't like puffs?)or cooked carrots. He won't take juice or water either - spits it out. Again, I know he's getting his needed calories from the formula, but I'd like him to get some practice with solids/liquids. I've tried with solids before & after the bottle as well. He's allergic to apples & sweet potatoes and soy/lactose intolerant. Any ideas, and when should I be concerned?

  • Well, I am kinda in the same boat as far as liquids. My daughter will not drink anything, but formula. I have tried to give her water several times and she pushes it away. Just try over and over. Anything you're eating, let him try it until you find stuff he likes.

  • Try putting some on your babies finger food on your plate when you eat lunch or dinner, then offer him his food off your plate (he'll think he's eating your food). That's how we got my DD to eat finger food b/c she didn't want anything but our food.
