What's a really user-friendly photo editing software - esp a free one?

I'm trying to blend/piece three pictures together and I have a PC (windows xp). I've tried GIMP but I can't figure it out at all.

  • I use Gimp. I have a Linux OS, no Windows at all.
What you want to do is start a new image & make it a good bit larger than the total (Width & Height) of the other pictures combined. Crop the pictures to the size you want them. Then Scale them so they all have the same HEIGHT ratio if you are doing a horizontal picture or Scale them so they all have the same WIDTH if you are doing a vertical picture. Then Select ALL for the 1st picture & copy. Paste it into your new picture. Place it where you want it & anchor to image. Repeat for all images you want to include. When they are placed the way you want them... crop, scale (if you want) & save image as...
    GOOD LUCK & have fun.
