  • You don't really need anything but food and drinks. Are there going to be kids there? are you making lunch or just hanging out? If there are kids have them bring there bathen suit and have them do water games...Water guns can be bought for really cheap, if older, water balloons. Make a Slip in slip with trash bags. If you are having lunch make hamburgers with chips...thats pretty cheap. and just small snacks. Or if you are just hanging out make finger foods. allrecipes.com has some good summer recipes.

  • Hot dogs and hamburgs, or sausage dogs, are always a hit. Some rolls, pickles, condiments. Make or buy some mac salad, potato salad, cole slaw, chip. A few two liter bottles of soda, a couple bags of ice, disposable plates, cups, forks, Something for dessert- cookies? Keep it simple.

  • For food, I would grill hotdogs and hamburgers, or you could even just do hotdogs and chicken legs/thighs which will be cheaper than burgers. Just buy like 10 lb chicken legs/thighs and a bottle of barbecue sauce. Throw the chicken on the grill and brush with sauce. You can make potato salad pretty cheap too. Just boil a 5 lb bag of peeled potatoes, mash, mix with 1/4 cup mayo and 1/4 cup yellow mustard, 1 medium onion in thin slices, and 1/4 cup chopped dill or sweet pickles whichever you prefer and then CHILL it well! Buy some coleslaw from a deli or make your own by mixing cole slaw mix with a coleslaw dressing. Buy 3 or 4 different flavors of chips. For drinks, you can make punch or just get 2 liters of sodas with some cups and ice. Sliced watermelon is always good. For a dessert just make some cupcakes from a cake mix, and buy some vanilla frosting, then to each can of frosting add 1 packet of kool aid mix to flavor it...
