According to kidshealth.org kids that age need about 10 hours a night, give or take depending on the child. My 10 year old got about  10.5-11 hours a night when he was seven.

  • 10-12 hours.
My kids need at least 10 hours. Doesn't mean they always get it (because they like to try and stay up late and get up early) but you can tell when they don't get at least 10 hours because they get cranky really easy.

  • My son will be seven at the end of June.I have him go to bed at 8:30pm and wake him up for school at 6:30am.So that's ten hours.

  • My stepson is on the same schedule at home as Elly25's son. At his mom's house he only gets about 8.5 hours and let me tell you, you can see the difference.
