Any advice for packing a suitcase for a 3 month old to the beach (4 days and 3 nights)?

I have a friend who just had a baby and has planned a trip to the beach for the beginning of June (he will be 3 months old when they leave). I am expecting a girl July 3 and we have had a trip planned for the beach the last weekend in Sept (she will be approx 3 months). We will be driving for both trips (approx 6 1/2 hours).

I have raised 4 other children but we didn't tavel with them that young. Any packing suggestions for both trips as the one in June will be hot (80's and 90's for highs) and the one in Sept will be a good bit cooler (70's and low 80's for highs)?

  • Sunblock, little hats, sandles for the sand, lots of diapers & baby wipes, small containers for snacks to refill when your out on the beach. If your bottle feeding then you can purchase those containers that are for powder milk with dividers where you can put the right amout in a bottle & then fill up with water..It was a lifesaver for me! Lots of fun colorful toys for her to look at or maybe you can make a CD with soothing music during the drive.

  • Make sure you take some type of shelter to the beach with you, an umbrella or a small tent, you'll want to be able to get baby out of the sun some and its will come in handy if the wind picks up at all. Also since they will be so young make sure you take a light weight blanket to wrap them in if they get tired, unless of course its to hot. Make sure they stay hydrated and that you yourself stay hydrated and get out of the sun some. If baby starts to get to fussy have a flexible schedule so you can leave if it becomes a problem. Take plenty of diapers to the beach with you.

  • You'll probably want your pack n play for the baby to sleep in. You can get one of those beach tents at Sams Club for less than $30 so that you will have some shelter for the little one at the beach. Definitely sunblock and a hat. Lots of liquids.
