Is it just my son?

or are most clothes made small? I know sometimes it depends on the brand too... He's 6 monthd old and wears 9-12 months clothes..I've seen some "12 month" outfits that look like would barely fit a 3 month old! He could wear some "3 month" sleepers as a newborn.
He is a bigger than average baby (he wasn't as a newborn, 7lbs 14ozs & 19 1/2 in, but definately not the biggest out there! He's 19 1/2 lbs and 28 in now as a 6mo old.

How big is your baby(ies) and what size clothes do they wear?

  • My kids are all out of baby clothes but I learned real fast that when buying baby clothes, you double the age of the baby & that is usually their size. I have no idea why this is but it seems to be pretty true.

  • my son is small for his age but i have the same problem. somethings that are 18 months will fit him and others will be too small or too big. my best friends son is 7 months old and wears 12 month clothes, he weighs about 20 lbs.

  • My boys always wore 2-3 times their age in clothes.

At 6 months they were wearing 12 month clothes except my youngest who wore 18 month clothes.

They're slowing down a bit now. My oldest just turned 5 in February and has been in a boys 6 since last fall. My middle is 3 and wearing a 5T or some boys' 4's. My youngest is 2 and wearing 3-4T.

  • I thought it was just my kids, too! lol Ever since they were born, they were way bigger than the sizes of clothes. My 3 year old is in Boys 5/6 and my 1 year old is in 3T. It's been like that the whole time they've been alive. I think the sizes are the average size for the age. There's probably some kids who are always smaller.

lol I just bought some 4T t-shirts for my ONE YEAR OLD, washed them once and they're like midriff shirts now. They're Fruit of the Loom

  • my son is smaller. He is 2 1/2 and weighs 25 pounds. He still wears 6months and up shorts. he cant wear any bigger than 12 months without needing a belt. He can wear 12 month shirts also but he can wear bigger shirts like 2t. He was 5 lbs. 5 oz when he was born so he has always been on the small size of the chart.

  • My DD is almost 19 months and she can wear some 2T but mostly 18 months and 24 months.
She is tall for her age so I always have to buy pants with the adjustable waistband because she wear an 18 months in waist but 2T length.

  • My kids were the same way. Always at least the next size up if not doubled. I remember my dd wore a size 2T dress to her first birthday party. Now my dd is 7 and wears size 8 in pants and size 10 in shirts (long torso) My ds is 4 1/2 and wears a size 4 pants and size 6 tops. It's ture once they get older they slow down a bit and get closer to their age-size.
