One of my dear sweet children left a gel ink pen in their pocket and I did not know until I removed an entire load of laundry from the dryer only to find my favorite bra and light colored t-shirt with the pen on it. The entire load has splotches all over it and I am at a total loss at what to do? Please help

  • Before it dries try soaking the stuff in Oxyclean. If you don't have a big enough sink pick the most important stuff first or use a big plastic tub (like something you'd put a bear keg in at a party maybe). Let the oxyclean soak over night and hopefully it'll get the stains out. Don't let the load dry though because the stains will be easier to get out if you keep it wet.

I try to wash my kids laundry separate from my own, unfortunately for me it is my hubby that usually leaves pens in his pockets!! I feel your pain!

  • Bar soap might help. My kids did this. The pen literally exploded in the dryer. The kicker? The dryer was BRAND NEW, as in, this was the FIRST LOAD OF LAUNDRY to go into the dryer...*sigh*...unfortunately it wasn't the last time it happened.

So, bar soap and liquid detergent. The stain remover from the dryell packages is great. Tide pen. Prayers and a deep breath...because you will not get it all.

  • I know you can spray a ballpoint ink stain with aerosol hairspray before you wash it. (Even if you've washed it already.) I wonder if it would work for a gel pen?

  • A friend of mine got me hooked on this new eco-friendly stain remover called Winning Colours Stain Remover and it works on every stain I have had so far. I went to their website to find a store near me and used their store locator. Here is the link:

You might enjoy seeing these videos too to see what it can do (the first one shows a pen ink stain being removed from a shirt): , and
