Infant eye color?

My little girl was born (2 weeks ago) with blue eyes, like so many babies. My SO has hazel eyes and I have dark brown. If her eyes are going to change color, when does that usually happen? Weeks, months? Thanks!

  • You won't know for sure for a few months... all babys are born with blue or grey eyes... so she wouldn't have been born with brown like the pp suggested. But with you having brown and DH having hazel she could really have any color! Blue, hazel or brown... maybe even green!
My nephew had very bright blue eyes until just after a year and now they look like they are changing to brown like his moms at almost a year and a half... so we'll see!

  • sometimes it could be 6 months. but she will either keep the blue eyes or get your SO's hazel eyes. if she was going to have brown eyes she would have PROBABLY been born with them

  • Your baby's eyes will change colors up to the first year of her life. My daughter is mixed. I have blue eyes and my hubby has brown eyes. When she was about 10 months old her eyes finally seemed to settle on a greenish brown color. They went from gray to blue to green to brown to greenish brown. Sometimes they stayed one color for a month or so at a time.

  • My mom told me my blue eyes turned green when i was 2. my son isn't 2 yet,he will be in 5 months, but they are still bright blue. I think it also depends on the genes 2. My DS will most likely keep his blue eyes becuz blue eyes are dominate on my fiances side. My family its more brown that dominate, no idea where i got my green eyes from? my mom= brown,my dad= blue? weird.

  • Usually it depends on who is dominant the brown I have heard is dominant but that is not always true. I knew a couple who the hubby was white with blue eyes and the woman was dark completed with dark brown eyes and had a blue eyed baby but by the time the baby was 5 his eyes turned green :)

But I have heard that two browned eyed people can make a blue eyed baby depending on the ancestry. My mom has hazel and my dad has brown I came out with brown not too dark reddish eyes...lol

My dh has hazel and I have brown like I mention and our son has brown but it the son look like they might turnout to be like his dad's and my daughter has brown like me.

One time in Biology class my teacher was talking about how he had brown eyes until he was 27 then they turned hazel. So I guess it just depends on who you are and come from.

P.S. Just be happy the baby has eyes....lol
Just kidding I know you were just asking a question. GL
