How long can you keep chicken or meat in the freezer?

My neighbor has chicken that was dated 2007 and hamburger 2006.Do you think it is safe or good to eat?

  • I believe that chicken is 2 months and beef/pork is 6 months to a year depending on the type of meat.

  • I usually throw it out after 3 months in our regular freezer and up to 1 year in our deep freezer.

  • even if meat is frozen it can still go bad.
    it is 12 months for beef and 6 months for poultry.
