What would be some good, CHEAP foods to take on a picnic?

I know that the summer is right on our heels, so I was just wondering what are some of your favorite CHEAP recipes to take on a picnic?? I know that PBJs are great, but I need some other stuff as well.

Feel free to post your recipes.

  • How about macaroni salad, deli meats, and cheeses,
Fruits - Watermelon, cataloupe, honeydew (when on sale) grapes, and whatnot
Veggies - Carrots, celery, tomatoes, brocolli and califlower dipped in ranch or french onion soup.
Fried chicken, made from like Albertsons, safeway what have you, I know that albertsons here used to have a good deal on chicken.

Potato salad, lettuce salad, fruit salad, anything that you can make at home you can make for a picnic, maybe chicken salad, tuna salad, salmon salad, egg salad, Just remember to keep it very cold!

  • Grapes, carrots, other veggies. You can make dip with sour cream and a package of lipon onion soup mix.

I make extra potatoes every time I cook them for supper, throw them in the fridge and use them for potatoe salad later in the week.
