what are those baby sounds?

I was waiting my whole pregnancy for the moment when my baby will say ma-ma-ma, or da-da-da...but he is 9 months old ( 6 weeks preemie) and he starts making noises like jey, hi, ahhh, ummm, eyyy, but nothing similar to da-da-da or ma-ma-ma...are those noises the first step for starting later with ma-ma-ma or da-da-da? what are those noises? when he says hi, i answer him but i am still waiting for his ma-ma-ma or he normal? could he be delay in speech? could babies start talking without doing the ma-ma-ma or da-da-da? i am a little concerned about his speech...i read the 9 months milestones and he supposes to say ba-ba-ba.....i know each baby is different and preemies more but i will love to hear from him that bable noises.....thank you so much!!!!

  • He is making noise, therefore, he is babbling. Talk to him as though he is carrying on a conversation with you. Explain everything thing you do with great detail and pause occassionally like he said something. Talk, Talk, talk.....those sounds will turn into words.
