  • Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
    They think I'm telling lies.
    I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
    The span of my hips,
    The stride of my step,
    The curl of my lips.
    I'm a woman
    Phenomenally.
    Phenomenal woman,
    That's me.

    I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
    And to a man,
    The fellows stand or
    Fall down on their knees.
    Then they swarm around me,
    A hive of honey bees.
    I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
    The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
    I'm a woman
    Phenomenally.
    Phenomenal woman,
    That's me.

    Men themselves have wondered
    What they see in me.
    They try so much
    But they can't touch
    My inner mystery.
    When I try to

    The ride of my breasts,
    The grace of my style.
    I'm a woman

    Phenomenally.
    Phenomenal woman,
    That's me.

    Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
    When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
    I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
    The bend of my hair,
    the palm of my hand,
    The need of my care,
    'Cause I'm a woman
    Phenomenally.
    Phenomenal woman,
    That's me.

  • Woman Work

I've got the children to tend
    The clothes to mend
    The floor to mop
    The food to shop
    Then the chicken to fry
    The baby to dry
    I got company to feed
    The garden to weed
    I've got shirts to press
    The tots to dress
    The can to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
    Then see about the sick
    And the cotton to pick.

    Shine on me, sunshine
    Rain on me, rain
    Fall softly, dewdrops
    And cool my brow again.

    Storm, blow me from here
    With your fiercest wind
Let me float across the sky
    'Til I can rest again.

    Fall gently, snowflakes
    Cover me with white
    Cold icy kisses and
    Let me rest tonight.

    Sun, rain, curving sky
    Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
    Star shine, moon glow
You're all that I can call my own.

  • "A Strong Woman"

    is one who feels deeply
    and loves fiercely.
    Her tears flow just
    as abundantly as her laughter.
She is not afraid to be afraid.

    A strong woman
    is both soft and powerful.
    She takes compliments to heart
    and treats herself
like the queen that she is.
    A strong woman
    is equally visionary and decisive.
    She is able to hope
    when things look hopeless.
She is both practical and spiritual.
    A strong woman
    in her essence
is a gift to all the world.

  • "You are my light, brighter than the brightest sun rays,
You are my friend, being there for me always,
You are my very breathe, the very wind I need,
You are my very strength, you give me speed,
You are my heart, my one desire,
You are my drive, you are my passions fire,
You are my one and only, my special one,
You are my hero, the reason I'll never be undone,
You are everything, you are my all,
You are my life, with you, I'll always stand tall. "

  • "Ever step I take to another day,
I find my spirit drifting away,
    Taking every breath hurts more,
Every tear burns to the core,
Emotional blur spurring the endless journey on,
Causing me to back into corners where I'm drawn,
Nothing steering me to a safer haven,
Or stopping the terrorizing squawk of the raven,
    Tormenting times, and useless rest,
And falling every time I try my best,
    Shaking hands, and fearing dawn,
With all laughter, and joy gone,
Scaring skin, to place the pain elsewhere,
My mind in an infinite despair,
Keeping me riding the on the edge of the grave,
Looking over my shoulder making me the worlds slave,
Prevailing is not hope of mine,
Living a world that to my eyes will never shine,
Take me away from this hurt,
Let me leave, let me desert."

wrote when I was 13, after having a few really bad experiences.. reminds me that I got through it.
