  • it is normal to have braxton hicks contractions. which they feel like a tight hardening of the belly and slight pain. some bh contractions can be very painful. But what separates bh and real contr. are the consistency. BH are very inconsistent and will go away with fluids and rest.

real contr. are very consistent and will come closer together and the tightness and cramping will be much worse. You won't be able to move and sometimes you won't be able to breathe.

Since you are still 27-28 weeks, you should rest and drink plenty of fluids. lay on your left side. try to get some sleep.

If you can eat during these contractions they are BH, if you can't eat then you may be in labor. That is a trick my nurse gave me to figure out labor or no labor.

  • Real contractions will continue to get stronger and longer. If you can eat, sleep, talk, walk and otherwise act normally through them, it is not a real contraction.
