a babies...

heart does not begin until around the 7th week.. if the baby doesn't have a heart beat, do you still think it's okay to abort? (jump off of another post).

I read a response that someone wrote, saying IUD's aren't really abortions because the baby never had a heart beat...

just curious as to your thoughts.

  • I don't consider IUD's abortion...

but then again I'm Pro-Choice and have a very different concept of when life begins and what exactly constitutes "life" also....

  • IUDs arent abortions- its birth control-and its common to have a tubal pregnancy with one, which the fetus would never live anyways, not without usually killing the mother. Abortion is gonna be legal, and I really hate it. Ive learned to stop fighting for it to be illegal, and to start fighting for SOME morals to still be upheld. I think there should be a cutoff of 8 weeks. This nonsense of partial birth abortions is sickening. If you are sexually active, and not using BC and dont want a child, then take a test monthly, that should eliminate the whole " I didnt know..." argument.

  • And IUD is not abortion. The fertilized egg doesn't even implant successfully in the uterus with an IUD. That happens anyway in a large percentage of all "pregnancies" without an IUD. You have to make a strong case that the fertilized egg would have even successfully implanted on it's own to call it an "abortion".

  • There is LIFE in the blood.... The fourth week marks the beginning of the embryonic period, when the baby's brain, spinal cord, heart and other organs begin to form. Your baby is now 1/25 of an inch long. At week five, your baby is 1/17 of an inch long — about the size of the tip of a pen.

This week, your baby's heart and circulatory system are taking shape. Your baby's blood vessels will complete a circuit, and his or her heart will begin to beat. Although you won't be able to hear it yet, the motion of your baby's beating heart may be detected with an ultrasound exam.

With these changes, blood circulation begins — making the circulatory system the first functioning organ system.

  • IUD's are a form of birth control. Usually they cause miscarriages or tubal pregnancies to occur.
Life begins at the very moment of conception. Not 2 days later, not 7 weeks later...the moment the egg is fertilized , LIFE begins. If not, how do these little tiny embryos no bigger than the head of pin continue to live and grow and be born a full size baby with a beating heart, and a working brain, and oxygen in it's lungs. If that is purposely aborted, then the LIFE ends. The heart will never again beat, the brain will never have a chance to think, the lungs will never take that first breath on their own. Tubal pregnancies are different . That's not a PERSON causing the abortion of the baby, because a baby can not survive outside the womb. It will eventually abort naturally, or a doctor will have to go in and remove it and sometimes the tube it was attached to as well.
No matter the gestational age, God creates LIFE.

  • Most women do not realize they are pregnant until the second month.. making them past 7 weeks.

  • And here's a tidbit that some of you may not like to hear. Many women have "miscarriages" and don't even know it. What happens is an egg gets fertilized but does not attach to the uterus correctly and when the next menstrual cycle begins, the "baby" is washed away.
As to the OP, IUD's are NOT abortions. That would be almost like saying since I was on bc before my tubal ligation, I was having an abortion. It is a contraceptive. Nothing more.

  • birth control is nto an abortion

  • I know the IUD isn't an abortion... that it doesn't allow the egg to attach...

but after the question earlier about it, and someone replying no, it's not abortion because the baby doesn't have a heart beat...

babies don't have heart beats until around 7 weeks.. so if you say IUD's aren't abortions becausethe baby doesn't have a heart beat.. I am questioning if people that believe that, would be okay with an abortion before the 7th week?

  • * lighthousemom3:

so you are saying that even though you know IUD's could cause miscarriages and tubal births, they are okay.. because the women (although she knows about this problem) doesn't go to doctor to kill the child?

The child is still unwanted.. and she's putting her self at risk for miscarriages because of the IUD... so in a sense, isn't it the same as an abortion?
