Is a woman a mother at the point of conception or does that come after?

In another question I saw, a woman was upset that her own mom had not wished her a Happy Mother's Day. Some said she needed to get over it, and that she wasn't a mom yet. So, if she's not a mom, how can the abortion debate go on? I know some will say this is totally ridicilous, but think about it---if she's not a mom when does she become one?

  • I think you are a mother when you feel like your a mother. Weather its when you convive or when your child is born. Weather you adopt or have foster kids. ITs when you put the needs of that child before your own. so if you are pregnat doing drugs and acholo i do not think you are a mother. But if you are pregnat and putting that child well being first and formore then your are mother.

  • Yes she's a mom, she's pregnant isn't she? Being pregnant means there's a baby inside u, and having a baby inside u means ur a mom

  • a woman becomes a "mom" at birth of the child. At least to me.....

If a woman miscarried her first child, would she still be a mom after that?? No.

  • She is a "Mother-to-be" while pregnant. She is a mother after delivery.

A woman is also a mother when fostering and through adoption, just to be clear.

  • A mother-to-be is still a mother, her baby is just still inside where you can't see it yet!
