Is he allergic to fructose, or to "high fructose corn syrup"? Every fruit contains fructose, it's unavoidable. No fruits contain HFCS, however, so avoiding juices with that on the label is fairly easy. (Also read all labels of any pre-packaged item; HFCS is in ketchup, beans, cereals, etc.)
If he has fructose intolerance or fructose malabsorption, he will have to avoid all foods with HFCS (which is added to just about everything, check all your labels carefully, even beans!) and apples and pears seem to be a problem, bananas seem to be fine. He may need to avoid wheat as well, so you need to find out from your dr exactly what the nature of his allergy/intolerance is, and what foods he can eat.
