How old was your baby when they no longer wanted to be swaddled?

DD is 15 weeks... she's been super cranky the past few nights - the only stop has come from putting her in the swaddle blanket. I don't think my older ones were interested at almost 4 months old.

  • She was about two months old when we nixed the swaddling.

She never did well on her back anyway, she's slept on her stomach since about two months as well.

  • My son wanted and thought he needed to be swaddled for FOREVER! I think we stopped at 5 months. If his arms were free at night he would wake himself up.

  • I think my son was about 4 weeks when I stopped swaddling. He didn't like it much from day 1. He would always wiggle himself out at some point. I always told my husband it was because he was stuck in 1 position in my belly. I have a heart shaped uterus so his head was under my right ribs and his butt was on my left side from about 25 weeks until my c-section. He was breech of course.

  • I love reading these replies - keep them coming! I love it because this is so evident to their little personalities and their own wants at such an early age - so great! We're all sooo blessed, Mommies!!

  • Newborn. Mine always hated being swaddled. As someone else mentioned, in the hospital the nurse would swaddle them, they'd start crying and screaming, I'd unwrap them and they stopped.

They also slept on their tummies once home.
