What kind of paint should I use on this flag for cub scouts?

I'm working on making a flag for cub scout day camp. The flag is a heavy dark blue fabric. Not sure but it's probably polyester. Anyway, will acrylic paint or fabric paint work better? I tried the acrylic on an extra piece and it didn't cover very well. Wondering if I'd have better luck with the fabric paint?? Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

  • Try the fabric paint. Acrylic like you said will be hit and miss. Also you won't be able to ever wash it. It probably wouldn't all come off but it will most likely ruin it. If you have an ink jet printer you could try getting some iron on "paper" (Avery is the brand I used), design on your computer then print onto the special paper then just iron it on.
