  • There is nothing he can do now. You only get one chance to make a first impression and he has shown himself week on defense. He has shown that he will pander to the polls and opinions of OTHER countries. If there was a UN that would back up what it said that might help too. Sanctions that could be enforced would be great BUT the crazy man in power in NK knows that we won't really do it b/c we are more worried about the welfare of his people! And he doesn't really care about the welfare of his people. The leader of NK respects power and strength, just like the leader of Iran. They see neither of these in Obama and that is why I AM truly worried about having these people in office at this time!

  • The leader of Iran doesn't respect power and strenght too much. He is driven by his religous view that Allah is on his side. But I do note that both countries have become a bitmore bold with Obama in office.

  • Neither N. Korea or Iran seemed to respect President Bush either, so what is the option? President Bush was willing to flex his muscles so to speak, and President Obama is currently trying diplomacy. I'm starting to think that there is no answer, unless we consider war an option. Do you agree? And do you think that either of these countries leaders will ever respect the UN, because I do not think so.

  • I don't understand why anyone is MORE scared about NK now than last year. Lil Kim did tests and flexed up under Bush as well even with diplomacy and sanctions. It's not like they were passive then started acting up when BO took office.

To the OP, I don't know but from my discussions with people who know much more about history than I do Lil Kim has short mans syndrome and it's mostly bluster.

  • How many times did he do this under Bush...once? In eight years. Under Obama we have had like 3 in 4 months including detonating a Nuke!

  • Doesn't the USA test weapons too? Didn't we blow up bombs in Nevada and New Mexico for many years? (underground testing) Hmmm? Why should we worry about them testing when we have already done it ? Did they worry about us testing , make some kind of political move or statement to stop us? Do any of us here have a College degree in International Relations, Politics or experience in Government? Do we have the smarts to have an opinion and post it here? The North Korea tests -lets just see what happens and how our President and our Military reacts.

  • Anon 9:13...do you know ANYTHING? The United States as well as other countries have signed an agreement about Nucs, that we will not use them for mass distruction or threaten other countries with them. Other countries are not worried about the US testing nucs because they know we are not governed by extremist, evil, dictators, and that they are not threatened by our testing. NORTH KOREA REFUSED TO SIGN THIS TREATY! As well as Iran, Iraq and all other countries we have had problems with. If you don't agree to have nucs for national security purposes only, in other words, if they NEED to be used because they were used on you, YOU CANNOT HAVE NUCS PERIOD! If you want them, sign the treaty. As for what we should do about it, the only thing we can do is go over there and stop them. And ppl will sit here and say it isn't our business or problem but it is.
