HOw do you get a dog to STOP DIGGIN THE YARD?>

she digs all the time and the yard we are living in right now is not in the best shape anyways so i really dont care but we are moving to a hosue and i dont want her diggin the yard we are renting it

  • Something that I found really helps with the digging is to sprinkle red chili powder in the areas that you don't want digging to occur. It will not hurt plants and the smell is strong to dogs, so they won't bother that area. You will have to reapply after a good rain, as it will wash away. Once they get used to not digging in those areas you won't have to apply it anymore.

  • Try putting chicken wire underneath where she will be residing ( I picture her tied to one spot) if she is going to be in the backyard untied then you will have to put alot of chicken wire everywhere..

    Or drop bricks where she will be at if not put her on concrete the reason they dig is bc they are bored or trying to keep cool. GL

  • Dogs dig. If you keep the dog busy and don't park it in the back yard then it won't dig as much. If you ignore the dog, it will do what it feels like doing. Some dogs have natural tendencies to dig and punishing them will just confuse them.
