Sun allergy?

My son's face around his mouth is turning lighter. This started on Mother's Day weekend when we spent a lot of time outside. His checks were first red with litte bumps and then it turned into a lighter little rough patch outlining his mouth. Sometimes it turns red. I am afraid he is allergic to the sun. Does anyone have a baby with this type of allergy or know anything about sun allergies?

  • It sounds like he may have a slight allergy to the sun. Next time you take him outdoors for any period of time, put an spf 45+ sunscreen on him and see if he still breaks out or has skin blotches. If he does not blotch then he could have a small allergy. You may want to take him to be seen by his pediatrician.
