what can i use or should i call the doctor?

my son was taking medicine for his thrush on his tonngue (which did not work )... 4 times a day for 7 - 10 days and he has been finished it for 4 days now, two days ago i introduced him to our pet rat and now today i have noticed that he has a really ugly rash all over his face and ears but no where else on his body. i am thinking its an reaction to either the rat or medicine, he's only a month and13 days old... is there somthing i can do or do i need to take a trip to see his doctor?

  • For a baby that small, nothing really you can do. Call the Dr. Some rashes come and go, others indicate a problem. If he was on meds with no improvement he needs to be seen.

  • first get rid of the rat and in mean time make an apt for him to go to doctor. as long as its not warm to the touch it shouldnt have fever in it, if it does i work take him asap. call the doctor but before feel the rash if its warm, and take his temp and let the doctor know

  • ok rats are not as nasty as people think. They are actually very clean animals as long as they are not living in the sewer and I know that you dont live there either. I would call the doctor and let them know what is going on, because of your little one's age I can guarantee that they will want to you come and see them. They will ask you a lot of questions about things he has come in contact with, detergents, animals, and foods. Dont be afraid to let them know you have a pet rat, they sell them in pet stores for people to obtain as pets, we have thought about getting one ourselves! Just dont have the money to keep up a pet right now. Anyway just call the doctor but if at any time before you talk to them your child develops difficulty breathing take him to the ER, because this is a sign of distress respiratory wise and needs direct medical attention. Take care mama and dont worry, God Bless

  • Not sure about the rash but a friend of mine's son had thrush and it kept coming back and they told her to give him plain yogurt to help get rid of it. So you may want to ask about that when you see the Dr. for the rash.
