  • While she maybe ready academically most kids are not mature enough for K at 4. I have watched kids 4.5-5 who are able to enter because of a fall birthday struggle around 1st grade. I even know some are told to hold their kid back a year. Nothing is harder then holding a child back especially if they attend the same school. A preschool would probably be good for your child right now.

My boys are 1 grade level apart now and I would never want them in the same grade. The older one likes being by himself.

  • Most of the schools around her they have to turn five on or by Oct 15th. I know that because I was trying to get my daughter in at least pre-school. Have you tried looking at head start or a preschool?

  • I tried that and none of the schools around here will take a 4 year old for kindergarten, even though he is already doing kindergarten stuff (reading, counting, etc.) but there is full day pre-k, so my son will go to pre-k in the fall.

  • I don't know if any kindergarten would take her a year early. There might possibily be a test she could take to see if they would take her a year early, but I don't think so. You would have to contact someone in the school district to find out more information. She will probably have to go to pre-k for the year though.
