High fruitose corn syrup

Why is it so bad? I try to make sure there isn't any in my son's food but its in everything. Even the chewy vitamins and those are the only ones he will take. Is it o.k. to have just a a little? is it not as bad as they say? Any advice on this would be helpful!!

  • Like everything else, it's all about moderation. If you're giving your son nothing but juice that contains high fructose corn syrup to drink all day - - that would be excessive. If you allow him to have one small glass, sippy cup a day, then that is moderation.

Just read the labels and talk to your pediatrician if you're noticing any concerns about his diet.

  • Yes, it is that bad. And no, your pediatrician probably doesn't know much about nutrition. It is not in everything, it is only in things that are unhealthy. Stop buying processed foods. Buy real, whole, single ingredient foods. If your son is eating a healthy diet, with fruit, vegetables, whole grains, beans, etc., then he doesn't need a vitamin. If he is past two, then water is the only beverage he needs.
