Why would my jaws be sore and painful...like I dont want to talk or smile big.

I am having no other symptoms.....except maybe some shoulder and neck soreness.

  • When I have a ton of anxiety I tend to grind my teeth in my sleep and it will hurt from my jaw down to the back of my neck for long periods of time. Not sure if this helps any but that's te only thing I can think of, unless you already have tooth problems, but that might not go down to your neck too.

  • You could have a pinched nerve.

  • Do you have hay fever?
    Any congestion or runny nose?
Jaw and tooth pain is often caused by sinus problems.
The shoulder and neck soreness could easily be caused by being tense from the jaw pain.

If in doubt, write down everything you notice for a few days and then go see the doctor. Your list of symtoms (with times of day or what you were doing at the time) can help her figure out what's going on.

  • Were you chewing alot of bubble gum?

or did you give your dh a good bj?

If those aren't it then I will have to go with the answers above. Hope you feel better.

  • Maybe ask your doc/dentist if you have TMJ. I have that and have extreme pain in my right side of my jaw. I didn't know I had it till I was 15 and I yawned one morning and it locked my jaw wide open. I had to go to the ER. You might have been grinding your teeth at night!
