Time for Solid meals and less formula???

I have an 8 month old going on 9 months. We have been feeding him formula about every 4-5 hours, but lately when it's time for his feeding he won't eat!! We have already started him on all kinds of solid foods...he is not picky at all. Should I start giving him more solid foods? And what kind of meal plan should I stick to?

  • more solids is fine as long as he is getting about 24 oz of formula a day. try giving it to him in a sippy cup. he might like that more. i know my son does.

  • Yes, in my opinion it is time for solid foods. I started both my children on solids earlier than your son with no problems at all.

  • Sometimes when they are constipated they will eat less. Then when everything "clears out" he'll start eating more again. Doesn't mean you can't increase solids, but formula is his main source of nutrition until 12 mos.

  • Mine were eating table foods at that age.

Three meals of table foods (whatever we were eating) with about 8oz milk in a sippy cup.

2 daily snacks with about 8oz juice/water mixed with some finger foods.

1 bedtime snack about an hour before bed, finger foods and 8oz milk in a sippy.
