Question for BFing moms

I'm having some breast pain (not mastisis) its occasional and it feels like let down only kind of like a shooting pain Occasionally. My son does have thrush, could this be what the pain is?

  • Yes you both need to be treated when either one of you shows signs of thrush. Thrush does cause shooting pains in the breasts. Genetian violet works best, you can get it at health and herb stores. Wal mart used to carry it, so do some walgreens.

  • If he has thrush and is getting treated you need to be treated too, shooting pains are a sign of thrush...get some genetian violet over the counter no prescription needed and coat the inside of his mouth and your nipple and nurse

  • When I first starting BF I felt horrible pain during let down..it would only last a few seconds but it felt like eternity..after about a week it went away.

  • oh yes trush is aweful i felt like i had needles shooting out of my nipples get some gention violet

  • Thrush can cause this. But I have experienced this on ocassion even before BFing.

  • I am not familar with thrush but I do breastfeed and I have had similar pains like you described. I dont think its anything but I would ask your doctor next visit :) goodluck with the thrush and with the pain :)
