When does a baby become a toddler?

  • When they toddle around- that dear little walk they have when they have just learned. They can be a baby and a toddler at the same time, though. I'd say maybe until they start talking in full sentences I would say they are a baby. And if they are just starting to walk, they are are a toddler, too.

  • When they walk. My son is going to be one in a week and he's walking so I call him a toddler.

  • in ECE classes, developmentally they beomce "toddlers" as soon as they start to walk. Which for some children is as early as 10 months. or even 8 months. For others it's as late as 20 months.
