White spots in baby's mouth

I just noticed that my 9 month old has white patches in the inside of his cheeks. What could this be?

  • Could be thrush (A yeast infection of the mouth).

I would ask at her 9 month appointment, if she hasn't had it already.

  • yes, he is in his 8th day of amoxicillan (sp?) right now! It is not on his tongue though, so I thought it was something else. Does it have to be on the tongue to be thrush?

  • yes...it can sometimes be painful...and sometimes you dont even know you have it. But oral thrush is anywhere in the mouth...Usually has to be treated with a prescription mouth wash...that you swish and swallow.
