  • It would be helpful to know how old the child is. Also, if you know of reasons why she might be depressed, whatever her age, try to fix the cause. Depression usually has a cause, and that cause is most often anger turned inward and unexpressed. It makes one begin to feel hopeless, worthless and useless. So, if a child is depressed, look for the reason and fix it.

  • The age of the child is very important. However, if your child is crying a lot and tell you they do not know why, if they feel hopeless, worthless, useless, if they are becoming angry for what appears to be no reason at all, if thier appitite is more or less, if sleeping has increased or decreased, if grades are slipping at school, or if the child has a I dont care attitude.

I would suggest asking your child what he or she is feeling, if you are not satisfied with they answer or the problem presists then I would look for a counselor.

Sometimes children and adults have a chemical imbalance, so it may not be any one thing, but everything.

If anything has dramatically changed in your child's life lately that could cause depression.

  • How old is your daughter? I would just talk to her if she is old enough to understand.... If she is withdrawn from you guys and her friends, stay's to her self in her room... Those are some signs of depression. Looks kinda of sad all the time, doesn't really particapte in family gatherings and different things like that.

  • could be a hormone thing too. i have had enough trouble there to feel depressed at times. i am not talking briefly either. all the way back when i was about 13. yes i agree her age is very important, what type of stress she has on her,her medications especially contraceptives, did she start her pd yet, we sort of need more info. your dr will ask how long its been going on if you go there to ask.
