WTH is wrong with our carpet?

Ever since we moved into this place when ever the air gets humid the carpet gets sticky and turns our socks or feet black. We have tried shampooing it, but it still happens!!! Is there any way to fix it other than replacing it (the land lord is never going to do that).

  • I think it is shampoo residue. The dirt sticks to the left over soap in the carpet. Try just using water in the carpet steamer to get the residue up. We had that in a rental once.. like they shampooed the carpet, but never rinsed and sucked up all the dirt.

  • I would buy a cheap area rug from walmart to cover it up.
