If you have brown eyes and your DH/SO has green...

What color are your baby's eyes? My girl's eyes are very blue at 12 wks. but I wonder if they'll stay like that.

  • My DH has brown eyes and I have hazel and my DS ended up with hazel. I think at 12 weeks they are probably going to stay blue.

  • Actually, we're the other way around...I have greeen eyes and my Hubbie has brown eyes...and my son is 6months and had slate blue eyes at birth---I thought for sure they wouldn't stay---but they still haven't changed colors, they've just changed to a very vibrant blue....
    I'm thinking they'll change though---I had blue eyes until I was about 22mos

  • They could. With that color combo any color is possible I think. A baby eyes can change in color though up until their 2nd birthday.

  • This website has a nice chart to explain the chances of each color, but it all depends....
    http://www.docshop.com/2008/01/04/what-color-will-my-babys-eyes-be/

    The list of eye colors in order of domination is shown below
    * Brown
    * Hazel
    * Amber
    * Green
    * Blue
    * Gray
    * Violet

    This does not mean brown ALWAYS dominates over Hazel, but in general, it would...

  • Most caucasion babies are born with blue eyes and most of their eyes, if they are going to change do so by 6 months but some as late as a year or two. Brown and green are both very dominate over blue so I would guess they would change BUT My Son (5y) has steel grey eyes and my daughter(17m) has pale blue eyes. I have green-hazel and DH has Brown-hazel so who knows.

  • I have brown, as does everybody in my immediate family, and the vast majority of people in my extended family. Dh has gray/blue. DD has blue.
