how can you tell between your water breaking and pee?

i think all new moms get this mixed up, and im not sure myself...

  • If your water breaks it should be like a cloudy clear color and have little or no smell to it. So basically it won't be the same color, or same smell as pee.

  • If your water broke and you stand up it will keep running down your leg.

  • My water broke...and it just wouldn't stop.....and it was greenish (which I found out is not good!) and I cried and cried it freaked me out so much!

  • urine smells like ammonia and amnionic fluid doesn't usually smell like anything, although i've heard it could smell sweet or like semen.

  • When you pee, it stops. When your water breaks, it doesn't stop poring or leaking out till you have the baby.

  • You can stop pee...you cant stop the flow once your water breaks...

  • The smell of amniotic fluid is mellow and urine is strong. My water broke with my last pregnancy around 20 wks. My body kept producing it but it leaked right back out onto a pad I was wearing.
